Blue Ginger Delicatessen and Cafe for the Love of Coffee

When you walk through the doors of the Blue Ginger Delicatessen and Cafe you’ll receive a smile and a warm greeting from Paul and his friendly staff. It’s not really a deli or a cafe, but an amalgam of the two, where regulars and visitors alike linger from the first caffeine jolt to the last coffee call of the day.

This is one of our favorite cafes in Margaret River and we especially love browsing the gourmet range of delicious delights from the deli and can never resist taking something home with us.

We come as often as we can to the Blue Ginger Delicatessen and Cafe to unwind over a great cup of coffee and a snack from the blackboard menu.

Margaret River Wines Direct to Your Door

Yes, that’s right, Margaret River has a brand new personalized bottle collection and shipping service, Bottles Direct.

Bottles Direct has been established by local resident and long term member of the local wine industry, Angie Bussell.  Angie recognized the need for a fast, convenient and reliable way for visitors to send our wine region’s produce home, and has teamed up with local wineries, tour operators and accommodation providers to help this become a reality.

Bottles Direct has a team of local drivers that can collect any produce that customers want to send home, from 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week.  Once collected, the wine, olive oil, beer or sauces are stored in a temperature controlled cellar.  They are then cleaned up, packed carefully into a carton and dispatched the next business day.

Bottles Direct has custom made cardboard cartons that can accommodate up to 12 bottles of various sizes, if the bottles are very small they will be bubble wrapped for added security.

Local, interstate and international shipping are all easy now – with Bottles Direct.

HOT NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS IN MARGARET RIVER

Partygoers are spoilt for choice when it comes to celebrating the new year in Margaret River.  The Margaret River Hotel have live entertainment and are partying on with extended hours till 2am. Boho are kicking off the night with DJ Travis James from 8pm followed by Bazzil, Nat Punk and headliner Si Naylor through to 2am.  Entry is $10 and includes cocktail and canape’ specials.

Gnarabar are hosting the evening with a scrumptious three-course dinner with live entertainment from local band Juju.

Percussionist Lee Cummings and DJ DaSilva will be raising the roof by midnight. Tickets are available from moshtix.com.au

Must Margaret River will be mixing things up with a Moulin Rouge inspired evening featuring two delicious dinner sittings plus live entertainment.  Whilst Settler’s Tavern will be featuring Mellifuous and 43 Campbridge for patrons.

Whilst Margaret River’s District Club are treating revelers to one of the most innovative new year celebrations in the region.  The party’s offering up recent Southbound local talents with New Southland headlining the evening with DJ Swami Adema, MC Armani, DJ Iron Palm and Tracy Barnett, Bridgetown’s songstress.

Partygoers will receive a cocktail upon entry and a spit roast and pizza will also be available.  Tickets are selling fast and are available by e-mailing hairy.fiesta@gmail.com

Picnic to say Thank You to Fire Fighters and Volunteers of the Margaret River Bushfire.

Residents in the Shire will be able to personally thank the hundreds of fire fighters and volunteers who helped out in the Margaret River Bushfire effort.  Council is hosting a thank you function next Monday the 5th December 2011 at the Gloucester Park oval at 6-8pm.

Red Wine Verses White Wine for winter… enjoy both from Providore Margaret River

Cafe/Celladoor Manager Kendra Benson of Providore in the Margaret River wine region shares her favorite Providore wine for winter…

You can’t go past Providore’s flagship wine, the Margaret River Chardonnay 2007.  Handpicked and barrel fermented in the best French oak, this delicate Chardonnay has a toasty, golden, buttery flavor that’s complimented by the exotic flavor of tropical fruits.

For lovers of red wine it’s Show Shiraz 2006.  A velvety, plummy ripe shiraz with a Pinor quality to it which is supported but not dominated by 12months in new oak.  This shiraz is elegant and sophisticated with a subtle spiciness that highlights the softness of the blend.

The chardonnay and the shiraz are great accompaniments for winter dishes of chicken and red meat.
